MPM does this by engaging early and deeply with the development team and internal and external stakeholders to ensure cost and product resilience goals are met.
The MPM leads costing exercises and early cost trade-off modeling, all while reporting to executives on status and progress.
Key job responsibilitiesThe Materials Program Manager (MPM) is responsible for the management and delivery of the product financial health for groundbreaking, highly integrated consumer products.
The MPM has a business orientation built on a technical foundation and is responsible for working across functions to manage product cost and to influence and optimize the product supply chain strategy.
The MPM captures, documents, and communicates current and future financial exposures for the product.
The MPM is involved in all stages of the product's lifecycle, from pre-concept costing through development and into the start of production.
The MPM is the Single-Threaded Owner (STO) to:
report the product cost status, risks, and opportunities in executive reviews; work with engineering, operations, and commodity managers to set program cost targets and challenge cost increases, providing alternative component and procurement strategies; provide leadership within pre-concept product teams assess and communicate new-product design cost/feature targets, and identify cost/feature tradeoff choices to support the program goals; use knowledge of market trends in cost, supply, and market risks to build product resilience through primary and alternate vendor selection strategies.
A day in the lifeAt any stage of the program lifecycle, the MPM will be solving problems.
At pre-concept, the MPM is key to the approval of new concept products.
The MPM works with the product manager, engineering, and GCMs to identify cost and performance trade-offs, costing design alternatives, and establishing product cost targets and guardrails.
During development, the MPM identifies cost opportunities and risks, establishes supplier strategy, and identifies & mitigates cost and supply risks.
Any given day, the MPM will be in the lab looking at design alternatives for a new concept, or in an executive program review to lead the discussion of market cost trends or cost risks & opportunities for a given product.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
