As a Senior Global Commodity Manager for Connectivity (WiFi, BT, BLE, LTE, UWB, GNSS, RF, NFC) components within the Electrical Commodity Management Team, you will be a key interface between Connectivity semiconductor suppliers and an experienced multi-region cross-disciplinary Team across Operations, Materials Management, Planning, Engineering and Program Management to conceive, design and develop innovative consumer products.
You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
You are a critical part of the product development process and are responsible for formulating, communicating, and executing a sourcing strategy for the Connectivity commodity.
You will lead supplier sourcing and selection activities and successfully manage the supplier relationship to ensure that the supply chain is capable of delivering high quality, cost effective materials, on time to support production requirements.
You will ensure that the Connectivity commodity meets the technical specifications and cost requirements necessary for Amazon Devices to develop great products for its customers.
Responsibilitieso Work closely and collaborate with Lead Commodity Manager, Hardware & Software Engineering, Product Management and other internal teams to influence technical design decisions that meet requirements for Amazon branded (1P) and/or Third Party (3P) productso Assess and influence supplier technical and business capabilities in concert with Amazon 1P and 3P product strategies and objectiveso Develop a commodity sourcing strategy, aligning business requirements with supplier capabilitieso Maintain expertise/knowledge of Connectivity semiconductor industry market trends including rigorous analysis of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competitive landscapeo Interface with Operations, Materials Management, Planning, Engineering and Program Management to assess current and future sourcing requirementso Be responsible for the AVL (approved vendor list) for managing supplier selection, qualification, price and capacity negotiationo Conduct Supplier Business Reviews (SBRs) and ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement and measures key suppliers on cost, delivery, quality, service and technologyo Help drive recurring executive business reviews of strategic sourcing plans that defines, among other things, market and business analysis, product roadmaps, supplier capabilities and annual/quarterly strategic business objectiveso Drive continuous improvements at the supply base with respect to cost reductions, inventory management, lead-time reductions, favorable payment terms, etc.
o Responsible for Connectivity commodity pricing, supply, lead time accuracy, rebate execution and be an escalation point for supply shortages identified in the CTB (Clear to Build) processo Ensure supplier production capacity planning and supply continuity from late develop stage through program end of lifeo Work closely with Materials Management team to identify material shortages at contract manufacturing sites.
Work with the supply base to close shortages and ensure on time product shipmento Review Forecast with key suppliers and ensure their long term capacity planning and near-term deliveryo Lead escalation meetings for severe supply shortageso Manage all aspects of new supplier on-boarding including database management in AGILE or other ERP systemso Work with cross functional teams to manage PCN (Part Change Notification) through Post Ramp Qualification (PRQ)o Closely interact with product operations team on late stage product launch support, post ramp qualification (PRQ) activities and product EOL management.
o Travel periodically to supplier's manufacturing sites.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
