VITEC, Inc. seeks a Senior Broadcast Video and IPTV Support Engineer for its Sunnyvale, CA office.
Duties: Provide systems engineering support for VITEC carrier grade digital head-end customers in the form of system engineering, solution design, system troubleshooting (over the phone and in the field), installation configuration and training at customers site and RMA processing. Provide Best in Class engineering support to our entire line of MPEG decoder products and broadcast portable recorders. Design, architecture and implementation of specialized software components: API for Broadcast portable encoders, Control panel for portable encoder cluster, Configuration tools for portable encoders, KLV/MISB Compliant packet generator, various tools used for tech support. Provide MPEG Decoder support, Broadcast Recorder support, and Video Streaming products support. Provide post-sales Support: get intimately familiar with VITEC carrier grade digital head-end product line and be able to consult sales team and customers with system design, configuration and troubleshooting; learn and maintain knowledge of VITEC s solutions and be able to work with third party vendors and customers to resolve customer problems where necessary especially with board level business and Broadcast recorders; process RMA products and maintain technical and system support for VITECs carrier grade digital head-end customers and Broadcast recorders. Provide Installation Support: travel to installation site to execute installation and training of Optibase equipment and any other equipment provided by VITEC; perform initial configuration of channels based on VITEC s channel list; ensure that all equipment is working properly to deliver the needed signals to the end users equipment; ensure the video and audio quality of each channel; assist the customer or third party in making needed configuration changes to accomplish the customers goals. Provide training: train customers on basics of IPTV technologies pre and post-sale; provide post-sale training of customers on operation of chassis-Telco grade encoders EMS, Cluster Manager and all other VITEC products associated with a sale. Provide tradeshow support: help set-up booth and equipment for trade shows; take part in the booth for conversations with customers and/or partners. Extensive travel and close teamwork with sales and engineering departments company-wide is required.
Requirements: Requires at least a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in the position offered or related position in the video field. Experience must include 5 years of relevant technical experience in system engineering/post-sale role in Telco IPTV, Cable TV or Broadcast industry. Must have experience working with the following: audio/video Broadcasting, MPEG Video Compression, IP Streaming and Networking; C/C+
SDK, low level electronic board SDK, MPEG-2/h.264/HEVC decoding; troubleshooting on QuickTime / M2T / MXF recorders, troubleshooting on Canon / JVC / Sony / Panasonic professional cameras; Unix environment, Unicast/Multicast technologies, UDP, RTP, RTSP, SAP, IGMP, PIM, KLV metadata - MISB Standards; User Interface design: Windows Forms, HTML5/CSS/JavaScript, jQuery; Backend design: IIS, Windows Authentication, LDAP; .Net, ASP.NET, WebAPI, MVC Framework. Must speak French and English fluently to interact with VITEC customers. Domestic travel is required 50% of the time.
