Yahoo currently has a Software Development Engineer, Systems position available at our office in Sunnyvale, CA. Working on projects of diverse scope and complexity, design, build, implement, modify, test, debug and deploy software systems, large-scale infrastructure platforms and network services that are the foundation of multiple Yahoo properties and applications. Responsible for performance, reliability, availability, scalability and security. Services are delivered to applications through standard and proprietary protocols and behavior may be customized via complete APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and/or web services. Help Yahoo as one of the most trafficked destinations on the internet improve scalable, distributed, high performance and efficient software systems to enrich user experience. Research and develop next generation technologies to enrich advertiser and user experience through complex scalable ad platform, with ever growing interesting challenges. Architect, design and build fault-tolerant, high-performance, scalable, next generation data & ad platforms. Interface with various teams to define requirements, interfaces, and implementation approaches. Influence architecture, design, and implementation across cross-functional teams. Participate in understanding customers feedback and fix issues reported by customers. Mentor junior team members in software development process and methodology. Maintain coding and documentation standards, participate in code reviews, and be a critical member of the Yahoo engineering team.
REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field and 3 years of experience in job offered or a computer-related occupation.
Experience must include:
1. coding skills in at least one mainstream language
2. data structures and algorithms & large distributed systems
3. UNIX skills
4. large software design and development experience
5. Experience with Hadoop, PIG, HBase, HDFS, Hive and NoSQL technologies
6. Experience with fault-tolerant system design and high-performance engineering
7. Database internals and implementation techniques
8. database query processing and indexing
9. information retrieval techniques
10. Experience with machine learning algorithms and/or statistical methods in computation
