Yahoo currently has a Software Development Engineer, Systems position available at our office in Sunnyvale, CA. Duties: Working on projects of diverse scope and complexity, design, build, implement, modify, test, debug and deploy software systems, large-scale infrastructure platforms and network services that are the foundation of multiple Yahoo properties and applications. Responsible for performance, reliability, availability, scalability and security. Services are delivered to applications through standard and proprietary protocols and behavior may be customized via complete APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and/or web services. Design, code, and test new features for the PSI platform. Work with team leads and/or architect to understand project requirements, provide solution implementation options, and estimate the tasks involved for planning purposes. Work with team architect to design the technical solutions. Code solutions and ensure that code meets coding guidelines and standards. Write unit tests for code and work with QA write automation tests. Ensure that build and deployment of code is successful as part of automated daily build process. Identify root cause of bugs/defects in code, fix the problem, and re-test. Provide production support.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field followed by 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or a computer-related occupation. In the alternative, employer will accept a Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field and 3 years of experience in job offered or a computer-related occupation.
Experience must include:
1. Software Engineering processes, tools, methods, best practices, test-driven development, and support;
2. Business documentation tools and methodologies;
3. Object-oriented programming, large-scale software architecture, networking, and distributed systems;
4. Java, J2EE, C++, PHP, xml, xsl, and Hibernate;
5. SubVersion, Maven, and Continuous Integration ;
6. LINUX or UNIX;
7. Apache, tomcat, oracle, jboss drools rule engine, mysql, or SQL;
8. Data structures and algorithms.
